Australia: Important Changes for Designs Customers

The Intellectual Property Office of Australia (IP Australia) is now implementing the following:

  1. one number for designs registration/application
  2. removal of designs registration/application PDF journal
  3. amendments to the Australia Designs Database Searching

 

One Number For Designs Registration/Application

Designs registration/application will now be allocated with one design number only. Designs registration/application will no longer be issued with a registration number.

 

Removal of Designs Registration/Application PDF Journal

The Designs PDF journal will no longer be published on the website of the Intellectual Property Office of Australia. The Electronic Journal for Designs will now become the single source to access designs publications. The Electronic Journal for Designs will no longer publish advertisements of designs that have been renewed.

 

Amendments to the Australia Designs Database Searching (ADDS)

The Australian Designs Database Searching will no longer display complete details of post registration amendment notices. The Electronic Journal for Designs will now become the single source to access complete information regarding these amendments. In addition, the Australian Designs Database Searching will only display minimal but key information regarding extension of time notices. The Electronic Journal for Designs will now become the single source to access complete details of the extension of time notices.
