European Patent Office and Lithuania: Reduction in Search Fee

On March 17, 2016, the European Patent Office (EPO) and the State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania have signed an agreement on reduction of search fee. Under this agreement, the search fee of the patent applications filed to the European Patent Office by small and medium-sized enterprises, universities, and independent inventors of the Republic of Lithuania can be reduced. This agreement followed a decision of the European Patent Office’s Administrative Council in December 2015, which provided the legal basis for increasing the refund to 75% of the search fee with member states eligible for support under the co-operation policy.
